phpBB (PHP Bulletin Board) is a php application that's licensed under the GNU (GPL) open source license. It supports databases, including MySQL, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL and MS Access. phpBB is the most popular open source bulletin board application. phpBB is the worlds leading Open Source discussion forum software. It includes all the features you expect to find in todays top of the line software.

phpBB is a stable, open-source, bulletin board script available as a free download from phpbb.com. It allows you to set up an unlimited number of forums and categories. Users, moderators and user groups with varying permissions can be created. In short, it provides everything you'd expect of a bulletin board service. phpBB is written using the server-side scripting language PHP, you need to know whether your Web server supports this language.

First of all we will need to create a php file and save it as extension, .php. Upload this file to the root directory on your server. Assuming you've downloaded and decompressed the files for phpBB. which will include all nessecary phpBB3 files which are used to create our sessions, templating system and other things. The only real requirement is that the directory structure be preserved. After the upload is complete, change the permissions on the config.php file so that they're writeable by all.
